We are experiencing computer problems today so I will have to correct things later.

We bid good bye to Kanab this morning after touring this amazing area for the past 5 days.  Now we needed to focus on our return trip home to Massachusetts.  We wished Don & Sue Ross and their friend Lornie a good bye as well as they would be shipping their Model A back home instead of joining us driving home.
We left the hotel and had stopped to gas up and then headed off on US 89 towards our first planned stop at Glen Canyon Dam in Page, AZ.  US 89 is really the only road heading east and it can get pretty busy. Fortunately traffic wasn’t bad and we tried to help out by cruising at about 53 MPH.  Although traffic may have been a little problem, the scenery on this road was really exceptional.  Bruce indicated that the repairs made to the distributor yesterday didn’t completely fix the problem as the engine was still skipping under loads.  We finally decided to pull over and try to fix the problem.  Bruce was convinced it was the coil, so we changed that and I noticed that the manifold gasket was leaking at a few exhaust ports, so that was changed.  Back on the road Br uce gave the thumbs up, all was good again.  Was it the Coil or the gasket, we’ll never know.
With our sights set on Page and the Glen Canyon Dam it was just a long drive with nothing but the Mountains and open fields filled with scrub brush.  I wouldn't want to live in this area.  We arrived at the Dam and noticed more Model A’s in the parking lot.  This was a good space for a bio break and to learn about the construction of the dam and the creation of Lake Powell.  It was a good stop.  Back on the road, this time our destination was Kayenta, AZ where we planned to get something to eat, visit Monument Valley and check into our hotel for the night.
Our route now changed to AZ 98 and then to US 160.  The scenery continued to be excellent, but the traffic was much heavier.  For the most part traffic could pass us so it wasn’t a major problem.  We got to Kayenta where we got a bite to eat then headed off to visit Monument Valley.  The beauty of this area has made it a prime location for the movie industry.  Director John Ford filmed some classic John Wayne movies here. The drive to the reservation and Monument Valley started out with some nice scenery but continued to get better the closer we got.
Driving to the entrance of the park, Lou got on the radio and asked if we needed gas.  Yikes we did! Our gas gauges were on “0”. We got so focused on the scenery we forgot to check the gas.  Oops!  We fortunately a gas station was 5 miles away and thankfully we made it.  Lou and I needed 10.5 gallons and Bruce was full with 9.5.  Phew.  Back in to the park we were so impressed with the views.  What a great way to end the day.
We headed back to the hotel, but not before stopping at the local hardware store to get some 3-in-1 oil.  Bruce needed to oil the distributor and I needed see if I could fix my speedometer as it was scream at us off and on all day.
It was a great day and the scenery today was spectacular.  Mileage to was about 235.
